Shan Wei has over 10 years experience in China’s music entertainment and media industries and is an influential figure in China’s rock music scene.
He was instrumental in the development of Beijing largest pop and rock music radio station- Hit FM. He introduced major international artists via his very successful radio programs at a time when foreign music was virtually never played in China.
Shan Wei was formally with the Poly Culture and Arts Corp. where he organized shows for David Copperfield, A- Mei, and Whitney Houston. Between 2002-2004 Shan Wei, under the alias Tora Mi, released a series of very popular music reviews and interviews about China’s rock music and artists on City Weekend. From 2000-2006, he also ran his own indie label- Tetsuwan- which organized shows such as Pop the Rock concert series, Astro Boy rave parties, and Radio Aid Tsunami Charity events.
